Welcome to the Conflict, Crisis, and Change (C³) Research Center

The C³ advances research on peace, conflict, security, and related issues at the University of Bayreuth. It supports teaching and public outreach, following up on the UBT Peace and Conflict Research Network. Please bear with us, as we are currently updating the website.

The (founded in February 2026) is a new research center at the University of Bayreuth that promotes interdisciplinary, cross‑faculty research, teaching, and knowledge transfer on conflict, violence, security, and peace. For this, the brings together insights and methods from sociology, political science, social and cultural anthropology, history, economics, geography, religious studies, and related fields.

Members of the investigate a wide range of topics, including violence, social movements, security, humanitarianism, colonial hierarchies, knowledge production, infrastructure, and planetary futures. A central aim is to deepen understanding of change dynamics and identify opportunities for conflict transformation.

We share our findings through workshops, courses, policy events, and our flagship Bayreuth Peace Talks series. Through these activities, the also contributes to the University of Bayreuth’s new Translations and Conflicts research network.
