The Knowledge Network on Racism Research (WinRa) recently published an assessment of the situation of racism research in Germany (2015–2025).

Prof. Dr. Stefan Ouma, Chair of Economic Geography and a member of the UBT Peace and Conflict Research Network, also contributed to this report by condicting a disciplinary analysis of economics, which you can read in detail here [in German].

The network concludes that “although the field is thematically diverse, it lacks structural anchoring, professorships, and sustainable funding.”

Based on this analysis, WinRa derives the following recommendations for action:

• Consolidation of the funding architecture
  
• Structural expansion at universities
  
• Curricular anchoring
  
• Securing young talent
